Wow, another year gone! Time seems to fly by faster every year. I guess it's too late to say that I'm not sure I'm ready for 2009.
We don't have much planned for tonight. Just some pizza and munchies with the kids. Maybe a movie or two. Jere has to most likely work tomorrow. Originally he had the rest of the week off, but due to a water pipe bursting at one of the Hope Cottages he may have to work on New Year's Day!!! and the rest of the week as well, including Saturday. Well, at least he has a job, right? That's pretty much what it comes down to these days. But, that pretty much sums up our ringing in of the New Year. The highlight for Anna, is to sleep on the floor of the living room tonight. It's been her tradition the last two New Year Eve's. I hope that 2009 brings new hope to many, good health to all, and happiness. Happy New Year!!!!!

One step closer....
Managed to complete my shopping for the family we adopted through Love, Inc. Buying things for someone you don't really know anything about is very overwhelming!!! And very rewarding:) I can't wait to deliver them this Friday! Now I just have to decide what to get my own children!!!!! Anna is simple to find thing for, it's Dustin that can be challenging. I've been driving around with the items I bought last Friday in the van with a blanket over them. Haven't had a chance to smuggle them in the house! I remember the days of being able to shop for Christmas and birthdays and have the kids with me. Oh, how I miss those days!! Now I have to get a little sneaky and very creative. Anna still hasn't completely figured out the Santa thing yet, this will probably be the last year to pull that off. I remember when Dustin figured out who Santa really was, he was so sweet! And now he helps to pull it off for his sister. Maybe we are wrong for letting our children believe there is a Santa, but I do know that it's important to let them decide when they no longer believe. If you let them make that decision on their own....they always remember the past with happy memories. And hopefully their will create wonderful memories for their future children. I love Christmas totally from a child's perception! The gathering of family, good food, and watching my children rip into their presents with gusto! Without children.....Christmas would just be another day.
Well, I believe it's time to be productive with the day at hand! A little housework would be good. I do have a meeting with the middle school today to finalize Dustin's IEP at school. I'm so excited to give Dustin the tools and resources he needs at school to achieve his best in his academics!!!!! Dustin is excited as well, to do better in school. I'm mostly excited to have my son finally feel good about himself and his accomplishments! It's what every parent wants for their child/children.

Shopping,shopping.... and shopping
It's another wonderful day of chaos:) Today is jam packed with lots to do! First thing this morning we've got a doctor's appointment for Anna, rush her to school, and then off to coffee with a friend. Then meet the sister-in-law in town for Christmas shopping! Not only do I need to shop yet for the family/kids, but I need to shop for a family that the 4th and 5th graders at school adopted through Love Inc.
I tried to shop last Friday.....tried is the key word. Wow! Well any way just thought post a few lines for therapy:)

Pink what???
Yep, you guessed it....Pink eye! Went to bring Dustin motrin for a headache at school yesterday, and noticed his eye. Where the eye should be white, it was red. It didn't look like typical pink eye. There was no drainage, but it did burn and itch. So, I pulled him out of school and made an appointment with his doctor. Dustin has been struggling with allergies this fall. As a matter of fact, this is his third bout of sinus congestion and plugged ears since school started. Doctor said she suspects that he had an ear infection that cleared up on it's own and the infection moved to his eye. So, we will treat him for pink eye with antibiotic drops, and a prescription for oral antibiotics if the other symptoms worsen and the ear problems return. So....I'm am now blessed with a 7th grader lounging around the house today.
I have an appointment today with the middle school counselor and psychologist. We are going to go over the testing that was done with Dustin to see if he qualifies for resources through the school. I've only been after the schools since Dustin was in the 2nd grade!! I love our school district, but somehow my son fell along the wayside. I guess that's what happens when your child is not disruptive in the classroom and makes some sort of progress throughout each school year. I am hoping that today I will get answers to my questions, and Dustin will get the much needed resources and support from school. No parent likes to hear their child describe themselves as a loser, failure, or stupid.

I'm a Newbie
I am now a blogger! They say that it is therapeutic to journal your thoughts. And lets face it...everyone could use a little therapy. As you will notice, our blog title is "Chaotic Bliss" and that simply describes my life. Chaotic, but I wouldn't want it any other way. I guess I thrive off of chaos. Busy, busy, busy....that is my life in a nutshell. I need to learn to say "no" my husband says, but how can I when it comes to my children and family. Being a mom has been the most rewarding thing in my life. It has also been very difficult at times. But with the good must also come some bad. My husband is my best friend, without him I would be lost. Together we will face the trials of parenting a soon to be teenager, and taming a drama queen.....one day at a time.
