It has been ages since I last blogged! Were to begin?
The kids are growing up so fast! I now have a son who is a freshman in High School and my youngest is a 6th grader in Middle School. I thought that Anna making the transition to Middle School was going to be traumatic for her (and me)...but she made the transition smoothly. Dustin has been doing quite well in his classes compared to grades he pulled last year. He definitely has been putting forth the effort. And that in itself is big!!!
Taking care of my mom has gotten a little more complicated as of lately. She has had several visits to the ER which have all but one, led to hospitalizations. The latest has landed her in Spectrum for complications and a failure to heal on her donor site. 14 days ago she had a skin graft on 3rd degree burns that she sustained after catching herself on fire while cooking. The graft took place over 2weeks after the burn. She has not been the same since. We are having difficulties keeping her potassium levels normal, her hemoglobin and protein levels are critically low, and she is retaining large amounts of fluid. (Example: she normally weighs 175-180 and as of today in the matter of 24 hours...she has gained so much that she now weighs 205lbs!!) I need to follow up with the hospital soon and see how she is doing. I feel terrible that I am not at the hospital right now with her...but I can't afford to miss work, and I needed to spend time with my children before they went to bed. I feel that I am being pulled in several directions. I need to clone myself!! It's getting difficult to juggle all my roles. For now...I think it is time that I log off and try to accomplish some housework and get ready for tomorrows schedule!
